Artist profile: Of photos and phones with John Burridge
Though I am an admirer I’m not usually one to get sucked into the world of technological gadgetry. So I was as surprised as everyone else when I found myself with an iPhone. Some of the appeal for me is the photo communities that have emerged like Best Camera and Hipstamatic. My friend John Burridge encouraged me to get on the bandwagon and I did after seeing his iPhone photos (like the ones above) pop up again and again on Facebook. Here’s what John has to say:
“I’d say Lo-mob, Hipstamatic, and Camera Kit are 3 of my favourites. Photo Fx by Tiffen is fun to play with, too. Hipstamatic gives you instant results, but I’m starting to see that app in a lot of people’s profiles, so it might start to lose some of its cachet, I guess.”
Some may say that the whole iPhone photography fad is already tired but I hope it isn’t. For those who can afford to indulge I think a little creativity (SANITY!) inspired by gadgetry is a-okay.
