A little smile for Little City. I watch this video and it makes me feel all nice. Let’s make something really fun this week.

Eye candy: Pen story
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010
There are plenty of stop motion videos out there, but this one gets me. The use of photographs draws me in (no surprise there!) It is after all an advertisement for a camera – but kudos to the creators for creating a concise and wonderful narrative.

Eye candy: Leggy piano

Lady Gaga’s antics usually bug me, but a piano in high heels is fantastic.

Eye candy: Vincent Moon & Yo La Tengo
Friday, October 2nd, 2009
A couple of months back I obsessed over this video of the Arcade Fire playing Neon Bible in a freight elevator. Not only is Arcade Fire amazing (Richard Perry plays that magazine like a pro), but the whole thing is filmed very delightfully by Vincent Moon of La Blogotheque. I’ve never met Moon (and I probably never will) but his film style immediately make me have a bit of a crush on him. This has only been emphasized by his latest offering, a new Take-Away Show of Yo La Tengo. Check it out:

Eye candy: Collaboration love
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009
Little City loves collaboration. Really. The most warm feeling rushes through while watching Jeff Hamada’s (of Booooooom.com) new music video for the Choir of Young Believers release Action/Reaction. Hamada put out a call on his popular site for video footage of people dancing/ lip synching to the song and he cut it together (a la Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Cheated Hearts). Check it:

This is inspiring. Let’s collaborate soon.

Eye candy: A fabric fit for emperors and superheroes
Thursday, September 24th, 2009
I didn’t think it was possible, but they did it. It took ‘em four years and a million spiders, but they did it. I stand in awe. Yes, what you see before you is part of an 11×4ft textile woven entirely from the silk of the golden orb spider (also perched to the left). Yes, that pure golden hue is the natural colour of the spider silk (no dye!). Yes, it’s the only one of its kind. Yes, it’s being made into a cape for an evil genius with overly elaborate plans for cornering the international gold market (cue bond theme). But the really neat thing is that it’s nearly indestructible. Spider silk as it turns out has a higher tensile strength than steel. Holy Goldman Sachs Batman!
Wired has the full story here.
